Royal Philharmonic and National Arts Centre Reviews
Alexander Shelley returned in mid-April to both the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London and long-time collaborators the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa. Shelley was joined by pianist Peter Jablonski in England, performing Rachmaninov’s Paganini Variations and by Lars Vogt in Canada, interpreting Mozart’s 24th Concerto. Both sets of concert received enthusiastic reviews. Today Alexander Shelley and the Nuremberg Symphony present their programme for the coming season. A host of exciting new works, including a major commission and several Nuremberg premieres, stand alongside the stalwarts of the repertoire and compliment an enviable list of guest soloists. Now in it’s 7th season, the hugely successful “440hz” project continues this weekend in Düsseldorf. Conceived by Alexander Shelley, Eckart Schulze-Neuhoff (director of the Schumann Saal) and his colleague Ulla Baumeister, the series was designed back in 2005 to attract a younger audience to Classical music through a much more varied and stylistically daring set of programmes in conjunction with guest artists from completely different musical genres.
