Open Day in Nuremberg

The Nüremberger Symphoniker on Saturday present a host of events and concerts to celebrate the open day of their recently refurbished and refitted “Musiksaal” in the Coliseum Nuremberg. Following tours of the backstage area, including the offices and dressing rooms of the orchestra, and following a youth symphony concert and performances by several of the orchestra’s chamber music ensembles, the event culminates in an evening concert with Alexander Shelley conducting an all-American programme of Bernstein, Porter and Gershwin. Prior to this, Alexander Shelley will also spend an hour signing the Symphoniker’s two most recently released live CDs from Vienna and Milan. The celebrations then continue deep into the night with a DJ lounge at the bar, front of house. Alongside a new state of the art rehearsal hall seating five hundred guests, the foyer has been completely redesigned to offer a more flexible and contemporary venue for the orchestra in the 21st Century. As of the coming season, the orchestra will begin a new series of concerts in the hall, aimed at a very different audience to their three thousand regular subscribers in the main concert venue, the Meistersingerhalle. For all information regarding the Open Day, please visit the orchestra’s website here.
