Shelley extends Nuremberg contract until 2017

After two hugely successful seasons at the helm of the Nürnberger Symphoniker and two years into his four contract, Alexander Shelley this week signed an extension of his contract and will remain in charge of the orchestra until 2017. Managing Director of the orchestra, Lucius Hemmer commented: "Shelley has been a stroke of luck for the orchestra. His both elegant and electrifying music making is a constant motivation for the musicians to give their best for the audience. With this early contract extension we have laid the foundations for six further artistically successful years. I personally am delighted that we have been able to secure him for the orchestra, despite his many international commitments". The new contract comes in a week in which Shelley and the orchestra received a rapturous response for their interpretation of Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony and for their collaboration with cellist Daniel Müller-Schott, performing Prokofiev's Sinfonia Concertante both in Nuremberg and in the region.
